Fresh How to access Templates
Templates are available from the top navigation bar inside Recraft Studio.
- Open any project.
- In the top toolbar, click Templates (next to History and Help).
- The Templates panel will open.
- Choose between:
- Collections
- Editing templates
You can switch between the two tabs at any time.
Collections
Collections are pre-generated visual examples organized by outcome type. They help you start from a proven visual direction instead of writing a prompt from scratch.Examples include:
- Lifestyle photo
- Vector illustration
- Product mockup
- Modern minimal logo
- Hand-drawn illustration
- Vector set
- Concept art
- Web design
(Available categories may change over time.)Each Collection represents:
- A curated prompt
- A selected style
- A structured visual outcome
They show you what is possible before you generate anything.
How to use Collections
- Open Templates → Collections.
- Click a category (for example, Product mockup).
- Select one of the example images.
You will see two options:
Use prompt
Generates a new image using the same underlying prompt + style logic. The result will be similar in structure and aesthetic, but not identical.
Use as reference
Attaches the selected example to your prompt as a visual reference. You can then:
- Write your own prompt
- Combine it with the reference
- Generate a new image influenced by that layout or style
When to use Collections
Use Collections when:
- You want a fast starting point
- You know the type of visual you need, but not the exact prompt
- You want structured results (mockups, posters, logos, etc.)
- You want inspiration with production-ready direction
Editing templates
Editing templates transform an existing image using predefined visual logic.Unlike Collections, which generate new images, Editing templates modify your uploaded image. They apply structured transformations behind the scenes, so you don’t need to engineer the prompt manually.
How to use Editing templates
- Open Templates → Editing templates.
- Select a template (for example, Product photoshoot).
- Click Upload your image.
- Choose a visual direction (if the template offers multiple looks).
- Click Run the template.
The system:
- Preserves your subject
- Applies the selected transformation
- Generates a new edited version
Types of Editing templates
Available templates may change, but generally include transformations such as:
- Product photoshoot: convert a product image into a studio-quality visual
- Sketch to photo: turn a drawing into a realistic render
- Angles: generate alternative perspectives of the same object
- Apply texture: change surface material or visual finish
- Portrait transformations: apply editorial lighting or stylized looks
- Graphic treatments: create themed or layout-based variations
Each template is optimized for a specific type of transformation.
When to use Editing templates
Use Editing templates when:
- You already have a base image
- You want structured visual transformation
- You need consistent variations
- You want faster results without iterative prompting
Editing templates provide predictable, production-ready transformations while keeping your original subject intact.
